This kind of bulb is still well in production today, at least here in México. Most businesses in my town use these bulbs because they last much longer. They also have a base that is much longer than that of normal bulbs. These bulbs were manufactured by the México division of the Duro-test corporation, which is now called DURO-MEX. On the packaging, it says: "copperflex filament"; I don't know what that is, perhaps some proprietary type of filament? I believe that the filament they have is very special, because it is much thinner than the one found on regular bulbs of the same wattage. Duro-Test claims that their bulbs are designed specifically to resist commercial and industrial applications (And they DO last a lot longer). By the way, the packaging looks VERY old, but it isn't. This kind of bulb is available in clear and frosted, and has been known to be available in other styles as well. My clear one is rated as follows: 130-135 volt 60 watts 665 lumens 3500 hours avg. life More info about this bulb can be found on this site. |
