NE-40 Neon Glow Bulb

NE-40 glow bulb Bulb turned on at full power (125v)

This is a General Electric NE-40 neon bulb, similar to the NE-34 which has only one metal disk split in two. These bulbs were sold to be used as night lights and safety lights for exits and alarms, etc.; The NE-40 and NE-34 bulbs are much harder to find than the similar AR-1 Argon glow bulb, which is quite easy to find.

This lightbulb does not have a filament, so it cannot "pop" when power is applied to it (So it is safe to operate it at full power for a few minutes). It has two metal disks that act as electrodes.
